1. Do I have to be a California resident to receive treatment at Substance Abuse Foundation?
- No. Our treatment programs are open to all people who want to recover from alcoholism and drug abuse.
2. What is the first step to entering your treatment programs?
- Contact us at (562) 987-5722 (7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time Zone). Our helpful staff will conduct a confidential assessment at no cost.
3. How do I pay for treatment?
- The Substance Abuse Foundation accepts most health insurance plans (including Medi-Cal), credit cards and other forms of payment. Government funding may contribute to the cost of some Special Programs.
4. Which program or treatment services are best for me?
- A trained staff member will interview you and conduct assessments to determine the level of residential or outpatient services that meets your treatment needs.
5. I tried drug treatment before, and it didn't work. Should I try again?
- Yes. Sometimes it takes more than one treatment episode to succeed.
6. Do you help people with substance abuse and mental health problems?
- Yes. Substance Abuse Foundation has a long history of providing special services for people with co-occurring diagnoses. Many people with drug/alcohol problems also suffer from depression, anxiety and other mental health problems.
7. What happens to my children if I enroll in treatment?
- The Substance Abuse Foundation has special programs for women with children, including residential and outpatient treatment, housing and family case management. Child supervision is provided while parents participate in treatment activities.

9. How long has your agency been providing treatment services?
- The Substance Abuse Foundation has a long history of providing quality substance abuse treatment services for men, women and families, including people with special needs.
10. What is the cost of your Alcohol-and-Drug-Free Housing?
- Substance Abuse Foundation's Alcohol-and-Drug-Fee housing is affordable; the cost of housing is based upon a sliding fee scale, according to each person's ability to pay. Some special housing programs may be funded, in part, by the County of Los Angeles, for eligible persons.
11. What services do you have for my family while I am in treatment?
- The Substance Abuse Foundation has a weekly family group, counseling for spouses and significant others and on-site 12-step support groups for family members.
