Treatment Services

Treatment Services

Substance Abuse Foundation provides a variety of drug and
alcohol treatment, recovery and housing programs. Our knowledgeable staff members can match each individual with the treatment program that best meets their individual needs, including:
Residential Treatment, Outpatient Treatment, Day Treatment, or Partial Hospitalization. Supportive Services and Aftercare Services are available in all of our treatment programs.

People who complete their primary treatment program may
qualify for Drug-and-Alcohol-Free Housing while they continue to access services on an outpatient basis. Some individuals also may qualify for Medically Managed Detoxification services, as needed,
at admission. Substance Abuse Foundation values the individuality and diversity of the many people we serve. We believe that each person entering treatment has the right to confidentiality and respect, in accordance with Our Mission and Values. As a
non-profit organization, we bring Affordable Treatment to the community.

Residential Treatment

Substance Abuse Foundation’s Residential Treatment program provides therapeutic activities in a home-like, cozy community setting. Our inviting recovery “campus” is located within walking distance of some of sunny Southern California’s finest beaches. Residential treatment facilities and programs are licensed and certified by the State of California, and nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Residential treatment varies from 90 days to 180 days (or more, as needed). Residents participate in daily activities that include any or all of the Substance Abuse Foundation’s Comprehensive Treatment/Recovery Activities. There also are Special Programs for low-income and homeless people. Contact us for more information about these special programs.
Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient Treatment services vary in intensity and duration. There are morning, afternoon, evening and weekend activities. Our professional staff helps each client develop a treatment plan that best fits their individual needs.

Outpatients Treatment may include any or all of the Substance Abuse Foundation’s Comprehensive Treatment/Recovery Activities.

Some outpatients elect to live in Substance Abuse Foundation’s Alcohol-and-Drug-Free Housing, which is located close to the treatment center, while they access supportive outpatient services.

Substance Abuse Foundation’s Outpatient Treatment programs are certified by the State of California and nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). There are a variety of special outpatient programs, including Relapse Prevention, Day Treatment and Partial Hospitalization.

  • Relapse Prevention is the least intensive outpatient treatment program. It is for those who want to remain drug-free and sober after treatment, and it encompasses 1 ½ to 3 hours per week.

  • Day Treatment is a more intensive outpatient treatment program, encompassing three or more days per week, for 3 to 5 hours per day.

  • Partial Hospitalization is the most intensive outpatient treatment program, encompassing five or more days per week of 5 to 8 hours per day.

Substance Abuse Foundation also has many Special Programs for low-income outpatients. Contact us for more information about these special programs.

Supportive Housing

Substance Abuse Foundation is a leader in affordable supportive housing for people who complete primary treatment and want to live in an alcohol- and drug-free environment. The housing program is nationally accredited by the prestigious Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

All of the housing is located close to the treatment center, including one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for men, women and families. Each apartment is comfortably furnished and includes a kitchen, dining area, bedrooms and bathrooms. Laundry facilities are available. Some buildings have gated and landscaped courtyards. Wheelchair and ADA-accessible apartments are available.

Transitional housing generally encompasses six months to one year or more. Many people elect to remain in transitional housing for two or more years while they access supportive services at Substance Abuse Foundation. Substance Abuse Foundation provides Special Programs that house eligible low-income and homeless people. Contact us for more information.
